Chapter 3: Your pet as an email carrier
3.1 Sending mail
Before using your pet to carry your email, test your email setting by sending an email to yourself with postman. If you can receive it correctly, send yourself an email with your pet. When everything is ok, you can use your pet to deliever mail to your friend.

Make sure that your friend receives the email with Postpet. After your friend receives the email, your pet will come back. However, if the email is not received for some time, your pet will return by itself. The time varies for the type of pet you use. Usually it takes 12-24 hours.
3.2 Secret Diary
After your pet leaves your friend's house, a "mail sent" box is displayed. This indicates that a Secret Diary is sent. You receive this Secret Diary when you check mail. This brings you back your pet. In the Secret Diary, your pet tells you whom it visited, whether his/her pet is home, the amount it is patted/slapped, and some other comments. Please refer to Chapter 5 for more details.
3.3 Treasures
Your pet also brings treasure home with Secret Diary. After you receive your pet with the diary, the pet status is updated. Once and a while it adds one treasure to your pet's collection. So to get more treasure, use your pet more so that you can get more diaries. However, if your pet is already home when you receive the diary, the pet status is not updated and so you cannot get more treasure.
The treasures do not have any function. It is just a set of items for you to look at. However, it adds a lot of fun to Postpet, especially when you open the treasure box and discover that your pet has got a new treasure!
3.4 Letters
You pet is not only an email carrier. It writes letters to you and your friends! After your pet has gained some experience in carrying email, it starts to write to you. The letter is sent after your sent mail or check mail. If an extra "mail sent" box appears when you did not sent a mail, probably your pet has written a letter. You can check mail to see if you got something new in your inbox :)
To tell the difference between a Secret Diary and a letter, look at the "From" field of the letter. If it is from your email address with the name of your pet in parenthesis, it is a letter. Different pets writes different letters. You can tell the intelligence level of different pets by reading their letters.
When your pet has delievered even more mails, it starts to write to your friends. Odd enough, the pet does not carry that letter itself. It is sent through the postman and your pet does not appear at your friends house. If an extra "mail sent" box appears and you do not receive a letter, chances are that a letter is sent to your friend.
